Cheryl Baker The '80s Queen

About Cheryl Baker
Our very own Queen of the ’80s, best known for winning Eurovision with Bucks Fizz, Cheryl Baker! Spend your afternoons with Cheryl and party your Saturday nights away with her fave British artists of the ’80s.Â
Born in: the ’50s
Greatest music came from: ’80s
Greatest comedy show: Only Fools and Horses
Greatest guest I’d like to interview: Elvis
Greatest thing about radio:Â I don’t have to wear make up!
Cheryl faced the Great British Radio Quick Fire Question Round. Get to know her better:
GBR: Tea or coffee?
CB: Tea
GBR: McDonald’s or KFC?
CB: I genuinely never have either of them!
GBR:Â This is going to be tricky because you know everyone! Most famous person in your contact list?
CB: Cliff Richard!
GBR: Any brothers or sisters?
CB: I’ve got three brothers and a sister. Sheila, then Eddie, then Colin then me and then Gary.
GBR: Scone as in cone or scone as in gone?
CB: I think I say scone as in gone but I’m not sure! That’s a really hard one!
GBR: Jam or cream first?
CB: Now that I definitely do know – jam! Anyone who puts cream on first is a nit!
GBR: Anyone living or passed away that you’d love to have dinner with?
CB: Elvis Presley! His sense of humour was great.
GBR: Red or white wine?
CB: White wine, red gives me a headache!
GBR: Gin and tonic or Baileys?
CB: Oh gin and tonic! Although Baileys is nice with a splash of vodka in it!
GBR: Family hero and why?
CB: My sister, because I idolised her as a child and even though she’s 196 years old now she’s still my hero.
GBR: Favourite place in the world?
CB: Australia. I’ve been lucky to go there several times with The Fizz and with Record Breakers, a few holidays – my brother lives there and I love everything about it.
GBR: Prince or Michael Jackson?
CB: Ahh I love them both. But, I think probably Prince.
GBR: Only Fools or Fawlty Towers?
CB: Ah you got me again! They’re both great! When we were on tour back in the ’80s, we used to have Fawlty Towers on repeat on the tour bus but it’s got to be Only Fools.
GBR: George Clooney or Brad Pitt?
CB: Oh Brad Pitt!
GBR: Corrie or EastEnders?
CB: EastEnders!
GBR: Biden or Trump?
CB: I have no interest in American politics whatsoever! But Trump is more entertaining…
GBR: First ever job?
CB: I worked in a pie and mash shop!
GBR: Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin
CB: Frank Sinatra
GBR: Zippy or George?
CB: Zippy!
GBR: Ant or Dec?
CB: Nope, I’m not going to choose. Both of them!
GBR: Summer or winter?
CB: Summer
GBR: Fish and chips or a curry?
CB: I almost said fish and chips but sometimes only a curry will do!
GBR: Dogs or cats?
CB: Dog, dog, dog, dog, dog!
GBR: Sweet or savoury?
CB: Savoury
GBR: Steak or lobster?
CB: Lobster!
GBR: Rolling Stones or The Beatles?
CB: Absolutely The Beatles.
GBR: Favourite song ever and why?
CB: Seal and “Kiss From a Rose”. It’s the perfect song, it’s the perfect production, and everything about it is perfect. The vocals are superb, all the harmonies, that song just makes me shiver. I think it’s magnificent.
