Great British Radio is coming to the Great British public and is set to unleash its feel good fun on a national scale
Great British Radio, the station that’s all about Great Laughs, Great Guests, and Great Music, is set to unleash its feel good fun on a national scale. The station, having launched its successful DAB service in Hampshire just seven months ago, is ecstatic to announce that they’ve scored a national DAB radio licence, securing a spot on the coveted Sound Digital multiplex.
CEO Mike Osman, the man with the master plan said: “We are over the moon with the decision and for us to be on the Sound Digital multiplex. It’s been a real team effort from all of us and our investors. It’s cementing our place as a real audience winner. Word is getting around as we continue to see growth. Great British Radio was born to entertain. We are an upbeat station, a positive station, something different. And now, with the national DAB licence, we can reach even more people. We can’t wait to bring Great British Radio to the Great British public.”.
A station that only airs good news, Great British Radio is set to become your daily dose of good vibes, going national from December 4th. With a mix of popular music, side-splitting interviews, and a whole lot of humour, you won’t find what they have to offer on any other station. Their unique content and top-notch entertainment helped them stand out and clinch the DAB licence.
Obtaining a national DAB licence is no small feat, but Great British Radio has demonstrated its commitment to delivering top-quality entertainment to its ever-growing audience. The station is one of only three independent stations across the two national DAB multiplexes. Mike Osborne, Great British Radio’s Programming Director believes that it is this agility and uniqueness that contributed to them being given the licence.
Mike said: “They don’t hand out these licences easily and there was a lot of competition but our original sound, our fantastic content and our approach to radio really cut through and we can’t wait for the nation to hear us. We’re delighted.”.
The Great British Radio team will share their home-grown and licensed material with a broader audience, and they’re adding some star power to the mix. Joining the comedic maestro Mike Osman with his breakfast show, on the airwaves is none other than the Fizz star and TV presenter Cheryl Baker, who will host “Afternoons with Cheryl Baker” on weekdays.
Neil Kefford, renowned for his 11-year career at Invicta and Heart in Kent, will bring his unique sense of humour to “The Kefford 3” from 10 am to 1 pm. The drive time show will have Chris Storey in the front seat with “Storey Time,” airing from 4 pm to 7 pm.
Arqiva awarded Great British Radio with the national DAB contract after capacity became available earlier this year. Linda Passey, Business Manager – DAB Radio at Arqiva, said: “We are delighted to welcome Great British Radio to Sound Digital. With record audiences tuning in to commercial radio and more stations than ever broadcasting on national DAB, it’s truly exciting to see Great British Radio scale up so quickly from Local to National – harnessing the broad reach of DAB to really engage and entertain listeners.”.
As the latest RAJAR figures showcase impressive growth for digital-only stations, with 65% of the population tuning in to digital radio every week, Great British Radio recognises the demand for a station like theirs and how commercially this is also a strong move.
Managing Director of Great British Radio, Mike Huston said: “This huge news, now we have a much larger listenership available we can open doors commercially with agencies and businesses to get their brands to a national audience.”.
Get ready to tune in across the country from Monday, December 4th, as Great British Radio takes the nation by storm.
